Employment Law

Experienced, responsive and practical employment law advice

Our team comprises specialist and experienced employment lawyers and is highly ranked in both Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners leading independent guides to the legal profession.

How do we help clients looking for employment and HR advice?

We pride ourselves on our ability to simplify the law for our clients and to help provide practical and commercial solutions for staff issues. We recognise the importance of being able to deal with HR issues in a manner compliant with legal obligations and requirements, and is reassuring and empathetic.

We build up long lasting relationships to clients, to act as their external support for employment and HR matters. We also often provide training and thought leadership on employment and HR issues.

What range of employment law advice do we provide?

We have particular expertise in strategic issues affecting large sections of the workforce. We are accustomed to dealing with collective consultation issues and the sensitivities of working with a unionised workforce. Our knowledge and experience is often sought in situations such as collective redundancy, changes to terms and conditions, outsourcing, industrial action, union recognition, corporate mergers and acquisitions and insolvency.

We also represent employers in all forms of employment litigation and can draw from vast experience having acted in thousands of cases in the employment tribunal or higher appellate tribunals/courts. Such cases include constructive and unfair dismissal, redundancy, whistleblowing, discrimination, harassment, working time, breach of contract and more.

Our vast experience defending tribunal claims enhances the support we provide to our employer clients in their day to day HR matters, where we bring sound judgement to disciplinary and grievance investigations, discrimination issues, performance or absence management and senior terminations.

Employment disputes can waste a business’s time and money, deplete morale and damage reputation. We aim to limit exposure to litigation by delivering a bespoke and holistic service on all HR matters from start to finish.

Our clients value our straightforward and collaborative approach in helping them recruit, manage and retain an enthusiastic workforce. If  tribunal proceedings cannot be avoided, our experienced lawyers will guide you through the tribunal process with your best interests in mind, and the minimum of disruption to your business.

How do we charge for employment law services?

As well as providing standard ways of billing based on time-spent, we offer a fixed monthly fee employment law and HR retainer service for employers based on an estimate of usage which is reviewed and adjusted periodically. Some employers prefer this approach as we do not tie them in to long contracts (unlike many providers) so our arrangements can be flexible.

We also provide estimates for the work we are to undertake and can place a cap om the value of work to be undertaken.

Do not hesitate to contact us today for a no-obligation discussion as to how we may be able to assist your business.
