LEGAL ASSISTANT-COMMERCIAL PROPERTY

We are a well-established law firm with a strong reputation in commercial property, known for combining expertise with a collaborative and supportive team culture. We are now seeking a dedicated Legal Assistant to join our expanding Commercial Property Team.

Job Description

As a Legal Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting our solicitors and fee earners with the management of their caseload. Your responsibilities will include:

· File management including the opening and closing of files.

· Undertaking anti-money laundering checks for new clients

· Obtaining and reviewing Land Registry title documents using the online portal

· Ordering property searches

· Taking incoming calls, accurately relaying messages and making calls when required

· Preparing Completion Statements

· Preparing and filing Stamp Duty Land Tax and Land Transaction Tax Returns.

· Assisting with post-completion tasks, including registering deeds at the Land Registry

· General administrative tasks

Applicant Criteria

We’re looking for someone who is:

· Experienced in an administrative role (ideally gained from working in a legal environment).

· Professional, proactive, and a strong communicator

· Highly organized with excellent attention to detail

· Confident in managing multiple tasks and deadlines

· Proficient in Microsoft Office and case management systems

LITIGATION ASSISTANT

Job Description

We are looking to recruit a Litigation Assistant to join our busy Dispute Resolution Department based in the Cardiff Office.

We would envisage the role being full time, but we would consider applicants wishing to work part-time to accommodate their legal studies. Although there is no guarantee of a training contract, we very much hope that the right candidate would be able to progress towards becoming a Trainee Solicitor within 18 months.

The main responsibilities of the role include:

· Administrative tasks such as opening new files, carrying out necessary MLR checks for new clients, billing, and processing payments.

· Preparing bundles of documents for trial, interim applications, and case management conferences.

· Compiling document lists / indexes for disclosure.

· Preparing Instructions to Counsel and to experts.

· Preparing Statements of Costs and Cost Budgets.

· Legal research.

· Drafting / setting up letters and claim documents for the solicitors (i.e., pre-action letters, claim forms, letters to court).

· Preparing Court documents for filing and service.

· Corresponding with clients by email, e.g., to seek their instructions and keep them updated as their claim progresses.

· Corresponding regularly with the Court, Counsel, and experts, by telephone to track the progress of clients’ claims.

· Handling new telephone enquiries from prospective clients.

Applicant Criteria

Required skills and experience:

· A degree at 2:1 level or above

· Excellent communication skills

· Organised and methodical approach with good attention to detail

· Ability to work well individually and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
