Job Description
The successful candidate will first undertake a 6–12-month period as a paralegal, with the intention of progressing towards a trainee solicitor position following this trial period.
We offer our trainees the SQE route to qualification in addition to the traditional training contract option for those who have completed the Legal Practice Course. We envisage the role being full time, but we would consider applicants wishing to work part-time to accommodate any legal studies.
Here at Berry Smith, we are keen to invest in our trainees as they are the future of the firm. A large proportion of the team have trained at Berry Smith and have been retained upon qualification.
During your training period with us you will work directly with the partners and will also aid other solicitors within the team on a variety of matters.
We encourage our trainees to have client contact from an early stage to develop and build confidence and client relationships. We provide our trainees with the opportunity to take part in a variety of marketing and social events throughout the year to enable them to meet other likeminded people and to develop their contacts within the Cardiff professional network.
Applicant Criteria
The ideal applicant will: –
· Have a 2:1 law degree or above
· Have commitment, enthusiasm and drive to excel in the legal profession
· Have an interest in the Welsh business market
· Have a high level of commercial awareness
· Be able to demonstrate experience dealing with clients and be able to explain legal matters in a sensible and non-technical manner
· Have completed additional work experience activities within the field of law
· Be a team player.
