Berry Smith has once again been shortlisted For Property Law Firm of The Year

Berry Smith’s Commercial Property team has once again been shortlisted for Property Law Firm of the Year at the Insider Wales Property Awards which will take place on Wednesday 15th September 2021 at Cardiff City Hall.

Berry Smith LLP is a well-established, Cardiff based, commercial law firm comprising 11 partners and more than 70 staff, with a satellite office in Bridgend.  It is regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority and a member of the Legal Sustainability Alliance.

The Commercial Property team is headed by two leading individuals, partners Martin Pursall and Chris Jones and supported by senior consultant Roger Berry, who are all credited in the Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners legal directories. The department has a total of 10 fee earners plus 5 support staff.

Despite the uncertainty and economic issues arising from the covid-19 pandemic and UK Brexit over the last 12 months, we have been fortunate as our clients have in general remained relatively stable and active in the South Wales commercial property market.  We are well placed with a strong team of experienced fee earners and support staff to deal with a continued expansion of commercial property work once the economic restrictions and issues arising from the pandemic start to ease.

The Commercial Property team has continued to strengthen and develop its relationships with locally based banks and financial institutions including the Development Bank of Wales, Principality Commercial, Handelsbanken and HSBC and with various housebuilders and commercial developers including Waterstone Homes, Jehu Group, Portabella, Vastint Hospitality and Mumbles Group. It has also seen a significant increase in work relating to the National Procurement Service Legal Services Framework Agreement for public sector work advising Welsh Government, various local authorities and other public sector organisations on commercial property matters. New clients in the last year have included Monmouthshire Building Society, Denbighshire County Council, TSF1 and ASK Recovery.

The firm has dealt with a wide range of significant commercial property transactions over the last twelve months acting for local, national and international organisations from a range of sectors including manufacturing, life science, hotels, finance, residential and commercial development, public sector and health care.

Berry Smith’s Commercial Property team handles the entire property life-cycle and acts for a broad range of clients including developers, investors, landlords, tenants, house builders, banks and financial institutions, dealing with properties situated throughout England and Wales.

The team have the ability and expertise to understand the issues and commercial pressures affecting their clients and can provide a practical and bespoke commercial approach.
