Emma Borrington LLB (Hons)
Emma Borrington is a partner in the Transaction and Business Services department, specialising in Corporate Finance. Emma joined Berry Smith as a trainee in September 2002, and was promoted to partner in January 2014.
Emma has extensive experience on all aspect of corporate law and governance in particular:
- public and private mergers and acquisitions
- shareholder/investment agreements and shareholder queries
- public and private fundraising (debt or equity)
- management buy-outs/buy-ins
- corporate restructures
- international transactions
- joint ventures
- general corporate advice
Emma client base ranges from SME’s to high net worth individuals, angel investors and large public listed clients.
Over the last decade Emma has provided advice and support to clients in a number of sectors and has particular knowledge in financial services (clients include HSBC, Principality, Julian Hodge Bank, Finances Wales and WH Ireland), manufacturing (clients include Invacare Limited, Aircraft Maintenance Support Services Limited and Pontrilas Group Limited) and construction (clients include Jehu Group, LCB Construction Limited and Knox and Wells Limited).
Emma often leads teams on specific large projects which have included international reorganisations for clients such as BBI Group Holdings Limited and Concateno Limited (now Alere Toxicology) and has had an integral role in advising EKF Diagnostics Holdings plc on its quoted company fundraising on the AIM market and subsequent international acquisitions.
Emma has been recognised as one of the “35 woman under 35” by the Western Mail in their report on the generation of women playing a part in the bigger role of Wales’ economy and regularly speaks and provides training at conferences and seminars advising on all aspects of corporate law.
Emma plays an integral role within Berry Smith and is responsible for the training needs of the corporate and commercial team, appointment of new members joining the Transaction and Business Services team and is also part of the Berry Smith Marketing Committee and Corporate Responsibility Committee.
Emma is also a part time lecturer teaching Advanced Business and Corporate Law & Practice to the Legal Practice Course (LPC) students at the University of South Wales at their Cardiff campus.
