Lasting Powers of Attorney and Incapacity

There are many reasons to appoint an attorney, including incapacity and illness. Lasting Power of Attorney enables someone to look after your affairs and you can choose who that will be.

A Lasting Power of Attorney will enable you to appoint someone to make decisions regarding your health and welfare as well as look after your financial affairs.

If a person is unable to manage their affairs and an Enduring or Lasting Power of Attorney is not in place then the management of their affairs will have to be placed in the hands of a third party who will handle matters on that person's behalf. This is known as a Deputyship application and we will assist in all aspects of the appropriate applications to the court to obtain the necessary orders so that the affairs of the incapacitated person can be managed with as little interruption as possible.
