Iwan Doull BSc (Hons), Dip M

After several years working in industry for a multinational PLC, Iwan retrained as a lawyer and has been a partner in Berry Smith since 2003. He heads up the firm's specialist Property Litigation team, which is ranked in both the Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners guides to the legal profession as one of the leading dispute resolution teams in Wales.

Both Chambers & Partners and the Legal 500 also top rank Iwan as an individual lawyer. Chambers & Partners has described  him as "First-class", “commercially minded, and straightforward to deal with., “down to earth and helpful” and  that "he researched a case so thoroughly that he made the opposition look like they hadn't even put up a fight!". He is the only lawyer in Wales recommended in the Legal 500 in three different areas of law - commercial litigation, property litigation and professional negligence - which describes him as being “very reliable” and that he is "well respected in the market…leading to an increase in referrals from other professionals".

Iwan’s practice encompasses all aspects of commercial litigation, including contract claims, shareholder and partnership disputes. His property experience has also lead to a specialisation in all aspects of Wills and Probate disputes, which often include a property element. He is one of only four members in Wales of ACTAPS, the organisation for specialist contentious trust and probate lawyers.

His practice also includes a growing element of claims for professional negligence, particularly in relation to property matters and against solicitors, an expertise which is again recognised by recommendations in Chambers & Partners and the Legal 500, which describes him as having "A good reputation amongst both clients and peers".

Iwan is a member of the specialist Property Litigation Association (PLA), ACTAPS, the Professional Negligence Lawyers’ Association, the Wales Commercial Law Association, and is a regular speaker on all property related matters for the RICS across Wales, including the annual Welsh Commercial Property Conference.

Iwan sits on the board of a company affiliated to RCT Homes (one of Wales ' largest Housing Associations) providing education and workplace training to disadvantaged young people in South Wales .

Iwan is a fluent Welsh speaker and his interests include football, golf and skiing.
