Helen Tudball, LLB (Hons)
Helen joined Berry Smith in 2005 and since then has led the Insolvency and Business Recovery Team. Helen has been recognised in the Legal 500 for 2005 and 2006 as a specialist in Insolvency and Corporate Recovery and a “major player in the market”. She is described by her clients in the Chambers Guide to the Legal Profession 2006 as "direct, professional and friendly" and “personable, responsive and technically very sound” and one who “takes the time and trouble to understand IPs and her clients.” She is admired for her commitment to the firm’s insolvency practice and her ability to “produce the product her clients are looking for.
Helen’s other practice includes advising directors on their duties and obligations and has also represented a number of respondents to proceedings brought by government department including directors disqualification proceedings and public interest petitions. She also acts in a broad range of commercial disputes including, commercial contract claims, banking and financial services claims, shareholder disputes, consumer protection issues, and professional negligence claims.
Helen is a member of R3 and the Insolvency Lawyers Association. To date, she has also completed two LLM Modules, in Credit, Security and Insolvency and Banking Law at Bristol University.
Recent cases include:
- Proceedings under the Insolvency Act for an Insolvency Practitioners to recover monies from former directors of an insolvent companies
- The defence of directors facing disqualification proceedings under the Company Directors Disqualification Act 1986 brought by the DTI following the insolvent liquidation of their company
